A person's self-care and health depend on various factors, such as age, care needs, mental illness or physical and mental impairments. Unfortunately, the oral health of many people with care needs or disabilities is often worse than average. Caries, periodontitis and oral mucosal diseases in particular are more common than average among them. Problems in the mouth affect many areas of life, especially overall health, which is closely linked to good oral health.
Health starts in the mouth - for everyone!
As every year, Dental Health Day will take place on September 25, 2023, which this year will specifically address the challenges of vulnerable groups when it comes to dental health. Under the motto “Healthy, starts in the mouth - for everyone!”, we would like to discuss the challenges in this regard and draw attention to the topic. As part of this event at our pediatric dental practice in Mainz, we will highlight opportunities for health participation, present support services and aim to strengthen health literacy, particularly with regard to dental health, through education and information.
We will focus on providing valuable information about the dental health of children and adolescents - after all, my team and I specialize in this age group.
