The development of your child's teeth and jaw position can be positively influenced comparatively quickly at kindergarten age.
For example, braces can be used for orthodontic treatment. This has a lasting effect, as later, often much more protracted, corrections are no longer necessary.
We recommend that you, as parents, come with your child to our dental practice in Mainz for regular checkups. Here we can determine at an early stage whether your child has malocclusions of the teeth and jaw. With the help of braces, for example, gaps can be kept open after tooth loss so that the permanent tooth can grow into the gap later. This can help to maintain a correct bite.
Unfortunately, this cannot be said in general terms. After the examination, we determine the severity of the tooth and jaw misalignment, according to which the duration of treatment is determined.
Orthodontic regular treatment starts between 9 and 13 years. We talk about early orthodontic treatment when malocclusions of the jaw and teeth are treated in the deciduous dentition or in the early phase of the change of teeth. Accordingly, early orthodontic treatment usually takes place between the ages of 4 and 9. Early treatment is necessary when it is foreseeable that existing malocclusions of teeth and jaws endanger the health of the permanent dentition.
The cost of treatment depends on the degree of difficulty and the extent of the individual jaw malposition. For children, the statutory health insurance companies bear the costs under certain conditions. Either part or all of the treatment costs are reimbursed. We will inform you if there are any co-payments for you.
